Saint Joseph's Catholic Primary School

Headteacher's Welcome

We welcome children and families of all faiths and none to our vibrant, inclusive and successful Catholic primary school in the London Borough of Southwark.

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of hardworking and committed staff who strive to make certain that every child reaches their full potential academically, morally, spiritually and physically. We endeavour to ensure every child leaves Saint Joseph's as a successful, confident and responsible individual, equipped with all the skills needed to continue on their future learning journey.

All children at Saint Joseph's, the Borough, have access to a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum which is uniquely tailored to the reflect the diversity of our pupils.  We are very proud of our Key Stage 2 SATs results.  In both 2023 and 2024, we exceeded both the Southwark and National percentages for the number of children who achieved the 'Expected' level or above.  For example, in Maths, 93% of our children achieved the 'Expected' level in 2023 and 2024 (the equivalent Southwark and National percentages were 77.8% and 73% respectively).  These results reflect the hard work of our children and staff and the curriculum changes we have implemented since September 2022.

We work in partnership with parents and carers and value the support and contribution they make to school life.  A highlight of our year is our food festival where families bring in food to share to celebrate our diverse heritage.   We work closely with our local, wider community.  The school lies within the parish of Our Lady of La Salette and St Joseph.  Fr Mark is an integral part of our school community, welcoming children on the school gate and joining us for assemblies.

Both Ofsted (2023) and the CSI (2024) highlighted the excellent behaviour of our pupils. We teach tolerance and understanding of different faiths, cultures and beliefs while simultaneously having respect for the recognised British Values. We ensure that these values are not only shared but celebrated throughout the daily life of our school.

We warmly welcome you to come and visit us.
